Char Dham Yatra : Journey To Spiritual Liberation

Char Dham refers to the four sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites located in the India. The Char Dham Yatra is considered one of the most revered spiritual journeys for Hindu devotees, who undertake this journey to seek blessings and attain spiritual liberation.

These main ‘dhams’ are the shrines of Lord Vishnu and Rameshwaram is a shrine of lord Shiva. All the ‘dhamas’ are related to four epochs,

  1. Dham of Satyuga- Badrinath, Uttarakhand
  2. Dham of Tretayuga -Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu
  3. Dham of Dwaparayuga – Dwaraka, Gujarat
  4. Dham of Kaliyuga – Jagannatha Puri, Odisha.

The Char Dham Yatra is typically undertaken by pilgrims in the months of May to June and September to November, as the route is open only during this time due to harsh weather conditions in the region during the rest of the year.

In addition to its spiritual significance, the Char Dham Yatra also holds great cultural and historical significance. The region is rich in natural beauty, with snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and rivers, and is also home to various wildlife species.
