Karol Bagh Hanuman Mandir

Karol Bagh Hanuman Mandir is a popular Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman which is located in Karol Bagh, New Delhi.

This temple is also known as Sankat Mochan Dham. In the last few years, this statue has become the identity of Delhi. It is said that the temple was built by Brahmalin Baba Naga Baba Shri Sewagiri Ji Maharaj. The work of building the temple started in 1994. It took 13 years to build it. The work was completed in 2007.

Not many people know that this statue is automatic. It is operated on special occasions so that people can have a glimpse of Ram and Sita residing in the heart of Lord Hanuman.

It is believed that Naga Baba Sewagiri Ji Maharaj was doing penance here. Then he told his disciples that Hanuman Ji came in his dream and expressed his wish to build a grand statue. After this dream, Maharaj Ji started the construction of the temple.

The specialty of the temple is the eternal flame that burns here. The eternal flame has been burning here continuously since 2006.

It is said that on 30 September 2006, Naga Baba brought the eternal flame from the Jwala Devi temple in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

If you have not seen the temple, then let us tell you that the entrance of the temple is made at the feet of Hanuman. Here is the mouth of the demon Surasa. People have to enter the temple from here.

It is said that Hanumanji showed his huge form to the demon Surasa and he entered the demon’s mouth in a small form. Similarly, devotees also reach inside the temple by going through Surasa’s tongue.

It is also said that the entrance of the temple is the open mouth of the demon, which represents the dead demon.

By Road

Several Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses serve the Karol Bagh area. You can take any bus that stops near Karol Bagh.

From the nearest bus stop, you can walk or take an auto-rickshaw to the temple.

You can hire an auto-rickshaw or a taxi from anywhere in Delhi to Karol Bagh Hanuman Mandir. Make sure to specify “Karol Bagh Hanuman Mandir” to avoid any confusion.
