Golden Temple of Vellore

Golden Temple of Vellore is located in Malaikodi at Vellore city in Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is devoted to Sri Lakshmi Narayani.

The construction work of this temple was completed on August 24, 2007. About 1500 kilograms of gold is used in the construction of this temple, which is worth around 300 million rupees (US $ 65 million).

It is the largest amount in the whole world. This complex is built on nearly 100 acres of land. This temple has been built by Shri Narayani-Peedam of Vellore, by the religious guru Shakti Amma who is also known as ‘Narayani Amma’.

You will only see gold in this temple as far as your eyes go. This temple’s walls, pillars, frames are all made of gold and the idols of the temple are also made of gold.

Every morning from 4 to 8 o’clock, worship and consecration of Goddess Lakshmi are done here, and after that, this temple is opened for all to worship, which is open till 8 pm.

Sri Lakshmi Golden Temple, situated in Vellore, is a relatively new and cosmopolitan temple. People who practice different religions and faiths are allowed to enter the temple and offer their prayers.

The visiting hours are usually between 8 am. to 8 pm. with an exception of special occasions wherein the timings may be adjusted as per the needs and convenience.

By Rail

Vellore katpadi Jn railway station the nearest railway station, which is only 12 km distance from Sripuram.

By Road

The roads are really nice. One can travel by own car or opt for state run govt. buses from Bangalore, Chennai, Tirupati and some other main cities.
