Danteshwari Temple is a hindu temple and is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas, shrines of Shakti.
The Danteshwari Temple is a 600-year-old temple and has been a witness to the rich history of India. The temple was built by the Chalukyas in the south, during the 14th Century in the Bastar region.
According to the legends, Goddess Sati committed self-immolation in the fire pit of yagna kund as a result of being insulted by her father, Daksha. Lord Shiva, raged by her death, destroyed the Yaga of Daksha, after which Lord Vishnu had to cut the body of Sati and scatter it across fifty-two different places in India.
It is considered as one of the fifty-two Shakti Peethas of Sati, the divine feminine, spread by Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the tooth of Sati fell during the episode when all these Shakti shrines were created.
The temple has been a spiritual centre since the 14th century, and people visit the temple every year to get peace, enlightenment and satisfaction.

Please Note: Jeans and trousers are not allowed inside the main temple. Males can get dhotis to wear at the temple entrance and females preferably wear suits or sari.
Architecture of Danteshwari Temple
Danteshwari Temple is a vast temple complex standing as a monument to centuries of history and tradition. The idol of Goddess Danteshwari is chiseled out of black stone.
The temple is divided into four parts such as Garbh Griha, Maha Mandap, Mukhya Mandap and Sabha Mandap.
Garbha Griha and Maha Mandap were constructed with stone pieces. There is a Garuda Pillar in front of the entrance of the temple. The temple itself is located in a spacious courtyard surrounded by massive walls.
The shikhara is adorned with sculptural finery.
Two big idols of Bhairo Baba are also installed on both sides outside the sanctum. These four-armed idols are of Bhairav Baba.
It is said that, Bhairav Baba is the bodyguard of Maa Danteshwari. Vijendra Jiya, the nephew of the head priest of the temple, Harendra Nath Jiya, and mother’s priest Vijendra Jiya, said that even in the texts, it is necessary to visit Bhairav Baba after having darshan of Mai Ji.
If the devotees please Bhairav Baba, then they convey their wishes to the mother. It is believed that with this the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled soon.

Special worship is done three times in a year
Special worship is done three times in a year in the temple of Aaradhya Devi Maa Danteshwari. The first is Shardiya Navratri, the second is Chaitra Navratri and the third is Phagun Madai. Phagun Madai is also called the third Navratri.
Goddess is also worshiped for 9 days in Phagun Madai. There are many laws in this. This tradition is also going on for many years.
Apart from this, the flames of faith are also lit in the temple. Every year more than 7 thousand ghee and oil lamps are lit. Devotees from abroad also get the flames lit for 9 days.
Dusshera Festival
Dussehra Every year on the Panchami of Shardiya Navratri, members of the royal family of Bastar reach the temple to invite the adorable goddess Maa Danteshwari to attend the world famous Bastar Dussehra festival.
The rituals of Dussehra festival celebrated in Bastar last for 75 days. This tradition is about 610 years old.
This time too, on the day of Panchami, the royal family has invited the mother. This practice has been going on for centuries.
On Ashtami Mata will leave the temple to bless her devotees. Mata’s Chhatra and Doli will be taken to Bastar Dussehra. During this, Mata’s Doli and Chhatra are welcomed with grandeur from place to place.
