History of Ambarnath Temple
It is said that the Pandavas spent a few years in Ambernath during their exile, then they built this temple in a single night with huge stones.
Then they left this place due to the fear of being continuously chased by the Kauravas. Due to which the work of the temple could not be completed. This temple, which has been facing the weather for years, is still standing.
According to the inscription found in the temple, this temple was built by Raja Mambani in 1060 AD. This temple is also known as the Pandava temple.
It is said about the temple that there is no other temple like this temple in the whole world. There are many such natural wonders near the Ambernath Shiva temple, due to which its recognition increases.

Architecture of Ambarnath Temple
The architecture of the Ambarnath Temple is a unique blend of the styles of the Shilahara and Chalukya dynasties. The temple is built of locally available black basalt stone, which is intricately carved and polished to perfection.

The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 11th century during the reign of the Shilahara dynasty. It is known for its stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and rich cultural heritage.
The temple complex comprises a large courtyard, a sanctum sanctorum, and several smaller shrines dedicated to other deities.
The main deity of the temple is a Shiva lingam, which is housed in the sanctum sanctorum. The lingam is a symbol of Lord Shiva and is worshipped by millions of devotees across the country.
The main Shivling of the temple is of Trimasti and there is a woman on her knee, which shows the form of Shiva-Parvati. Shiva is seen in a dancing posture on the top.
There is also a hot water tank near the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. There is also a cave near it, which is said to lead to Panchavati.
UNESCO has declared Ambernath Shiva Temple as cultural heritage. Situated on the banks of river Valdhan, this temple is surrounded by mango and tamarind trees.
The temple also houses several other idols of Hindu deities, including Lord Ganesh, Goddess Durga, and Lord Vishnu.
