Nageshwar Temple is one amongst the twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, the holiest of holy shrines of Lord Shiva. This powerful Jyotirlinga symbolizes protection from all poisons. it’s aforesaid that people who pray to the Nageshwar Linga become freed from poison. it’s situated at Jamnagar, Gujarat, India.

There once lived a rakshasa known as Daruka, who was very cruel and tortured the nice ones. however nevertheless he was a good devotee of Lord Shiva. A Shiva devotee, Supriya who was a businessperson reached Darukavanam, where Daruka lived along with hishis} wife Daruki while sailing with his goods. Daruka asked Supriya to show him the trail of devotion to Shiva, the norms of performing pooja, and penance. Fearing that Daruka would use any extra powers gained by such penance, to bad use, Supriya refused to guide him.

The furious Daruka began to torture Supriya. Supriya but was staunch is his religion within the Lord and was unmoved by any torture. Lord Shiva was happy and appeared and killed the demon Daruka. Daruki, Darukas wife, currently started giving even a lot of bother than her husband. Shiva vanquished her too and offers darshan to his devotees at this place as Nageshwar.

This Jyotirlinga manifestation of Shiva is idolised as Nageswar Temple. 2 different sites in india, one close to Audhgram near Purna in Andhra Pradesh and another close to Almora in Uttar Pradesh also enshrine temples to Nageswara Jyotirlingam.

Nageshwar Mahadev Sivalingam is facing South while the Gomugam is facing east. There is a story for this position. An admirer by name Naamdev was singing bhajans ahead of the Lord. different devotees asked him to square aside and not hide the Lord. to this Naamdev asked them to counsel one direction within which the Lord doesn’t exist, in order that he will stand there. The furious devotees carried him and left him on the southside. To their amazement, they found that the Linga was currently facing South with the Gomugam facing east

By Air

 The nearest airport is Jamnagar which is about 137 km from temple. One can take a taxi or a bus from there to the temple.

By Rail

 Dwarka is a station on the Ahmedabad-Okha broad gauge railway line, with trains connecting it to all the major cities . The railhead is around 18 km from temple. Devotees can hire a taxi to the temple or take a bus.

By Road

Dwarka city is situated near the state highway from Jamnagar to Dwarka. Direct buses available from Jamnagar and Ahmedabad.
